In 2005, Leading from his Heart and seeing the great need for our unhoused individuals and the rising numbers of individuals with mental health and substance abuse issues, Dr. Allen S. Turner decided to become a Solution.
Dr. Allen S. Turner and his G.L.O.M. team developed a unique evidence-based approach to provide support in reconnecting thousands of previously incarcerated individuals back to their communities as value adds for themselves and their families.
As a Solution to Community Issues, Dr. Turner and G.L.O.M. saw the rising numbers of our unhoused brothers and sisters across the Bay Area as well in Northern and Central California. He recognized the need and moved into action began opening licensed homes to service individuals with a focus on their root cause issues and developed and instituted the G.L.O.M. Way and APPROACH to ensure we not only cared for the individuals, but we also worked collaboratively to ensure our joint goal of returning each person back to their community as a value add.
To partner with the state, county, city and community to provide services to the transitional age community (ages 16-26). Services that will be provided are mentoring and social connection, linkage to community resources, literacy assistance and GED completion, employment readiness, appropriate interactions with law enforcement, social media interactions such as the dos and don’ts, financial planning and budgeting, health education, preventative health medicine education specifically geared towards young women, and linkage to trade school and community college enrollment and resources.
To transform youth by providing resources within the state, county, city and communities in which they live to ensure they are empowered adults. Transition To Independence Process (TIP) model is decisioned to engage youth and young adults in their own futures planning process, provide them with developmentally appropriate and appealing support and services, and involve young people and as relevant, their families and other informal key players in a process that prepares and facilitates their movement toward greater self-sufficiency and successful achievement.
